Karnaval Venesia (Italia: Venezia Carnevale di) adalah festival tahunan, yang diadakan di Venesia, Italia. Karnaval dimulai 40 hari sebelum easter dan berakhir pada Shrove Selasa (Fat Selasa atau Marted� Grasso), sehari sebelum Rabu Abu.
Selama tahun 1970-an, pemerintah Italia memutuskan untuk membawa kembali sejarah dan budaya Venesia, dan berusaha untuk menggunakan Karnaval tradisional sebagai inti dari usaha mereka. Hari ini, sekitar 30.000 pengunjung datang ke Venesia setiap hari untuk karnaval. Salah satu peristiwa yang paling penting adalah kontes untuk masker terbaik, ditempatkan di akhir pekan terakhir Karnaval.
Masker selalu menjadi fitur utama dari karnaval Venesia; tradisional orang diizinkan untuk memakai mereka antara festival Santo Stefano (Hari St Stephen, 26 Desember) dan awal musim karnaval dan Shrove Selasa tengah malam. Mereka selalu di sekitar Venice. Sebagai masker juga diperbolehkan di Ascension dan dari 5 Oktober untuk Natal, orang bisa menghabiskan sebagian besar tahun menyamar. Maskmakers (mascherari) menikmati posisi istimewa dalam masyarakat, dengan hukum mereka sendiri dan guild mereka sendiri.
Topeng Venesia dapat dibuat dalam kulit atau dengan teknik kaca asli. Topeng asli agak sederhana dalam desain dan dekorasi dan sering memiliki fungsi simbolis dan praktis. Saat ini, kebanyakan dari mereka yang dibuat dengan aplikasi gesso dan daun emas dan semua tangan-dicat menggunakan bulu alami dan permata untuk menghiasi.

Tugas mereka adalah menggambar wajah ke dalam berbagai bentuk yang berbeda dan memperhatikan ekstrim terhadap detail.
