Help me with this lens please!

<p>I'm looking to buy this lens but it's not AF-S. Stupid question probably, but does this mean it will not auto focus silently? Is there really that much of a difference? I 'think' it will autofocus on the nikon d60! I know it won't on the d40.</p>

<p>Also, is it worth the money to get VR? All in all, is this a lens anyone can use?</p>
