Cokin P Holder and filter compatability

I want to get the Cokin P Filter Holder for my Canon G-11. Specs indicate handling a 84mm wide filter. The filters I want are Hitech and suppose to fit the P holder; however the specs indicate they are 85mm wide.

 

Is the 1 mm difference meaningful or just inconsistent measuring of what should be a standard? Any advise?

 

I'd get some Cokin ND filters (which would definately fit), but I cannot seem to find any that are really clear. Also, other filters are way more expensive than the Hitech filters.

 

I noticed alot of threads on Cokin Holders, but nothing that directly addressed my questions. Thanks for your help. Mark
