The Spain international has returned to his boyhood club, arriving on loan from AC Milan following a failed stint at the Italian side as well as Chelsea.
Torres is set to be presented as an Atleti player once again on Sunday, and Godin believes the 30-year-old will add a lot to the team as Diego Simeone's men look to defend their Liga crown.
"Fernando is a household name and he has generated great enthusiasm," Godin said after his side beat Levante 3-1, with Torres watching on from the stands.
"He has come to contribute and he wants to make things right."
