It's just like a stock coil at 120v then the switch puts it at 65,000 volts.





The idea of having a coil that operates as a high powered racing coil at the flip of a switch is very desirable, but what is unique about this coil is that when switched in the low to normal rpm mode it actually fires a spark that is longer in duration and size at a lower voltage and a higher amperage output. This is what you want when operating in the low to normal rpm range. When switched in the race mode the voltage of the spark takes a dramatic increase, at a lower amperage rating. The high voltage/race mode is exactly what you need when racing or running in the upper rpm ranges. Most average coils operate in the low rpm mode only and produce a longer duration spark but they are not optimal for high rpm or racing. There are plenty of race coils on the market, but they are not good performers when running at low to normal rpm ranges. I had a lengthy conversation with the design engineer from Accel and my first question to him was where has this type coil been used, and he said no one has offered a dual mode coil in the past till now. It's fair to say others will soon see that Accel has a great product and try to duplicate this system. The idea of have an ignition system like this has been around the street rod community for several years in the form of a set of dual coils that were switched over in accordance to what type of performance was demanded of the engine. It was very simple to build a coil with two sets of windings and allow it to operate like a dual set of coils. Many transformers are designed like this for other applications. I can promise one thing for sure, I will always have this system on my personal street rod. As mentioned there have always been coils on the market that offer very high output for racing but these coils are not optimal for low to normal rpm driving, as they don't combust the fuel as well as a lower voltage high amperage coil, and high voltage coils tend to burn the tips down on your spark plugs, as well as putting undue strain on the coil when ran continuously. Now you can have the best of both types coil all in one. The wiring harness is truly a plug and play setup that anyone can hookup. If you have any trouble we can assist you with this. I see this as being the best coil design on the market for a street rod. Race cars that operate in a high rpm range only can still use this setup, as well as stockers, but for a street rod it's a must. It was also noted by the engineer that this type coil would be very benificial on vehicles such as motor homes, or trucks that haul or tow heavy loads, as there rpm range varies with depending on the terain, or payload.



One other application we find this coil to be very desirable is the off road community. They operate in both rpm ranges depending on the terrain. A horsepower increase is certain in the race mode, and a smoother operation when switched in the low to normal mode, as well as a fuel mileage increase that those running a high voltage low amperage coil will not see. As said before, a coil that puts out a longer duration and larger spark will combust fuel much better than a coil that has a very high voltage low amperage output, and that's what this coil does when switched in the low to normal rpm mode.



The complete coil system is 100% made in the USA by Accel. You will find the coil to be very heavily built and should last a lifetime. The relay is a genuine AC Delco product.

This coil system will operate with any hei ignition system, and is very compatible with any and all cdi units such as the MSD 6AL or it's likeness.
