[SHARE] Kisah Persahabatan Pasca Tsunami (+pic)

Awal 2005 cerita ini bermula. Waktu itu perwakilan Indonesia sedang melakukan pertemuan di Gedung Putih, Washington. Dan diberikan sepucuk surat oleh seorang anak SD di Michigan oleh staf Gedung Putih. Isinya untuk para korban Tsunami di Aceh, sangat mengharukan karena isinya polos, tulus dan penuh kasih sayang. Tapi perwakilan Indonesia tersebut bingung untuk mengalamatkan surat itu kemana. Kemudian perwakilan Indonesia mengalamatkan surat tersebut via BRR, untuk ditindaklanjuti.



Kemudian tidak lama kemudian ada kabar, surat tersebut telah sampai kepada seorang anak bernama Nada Lutfiyyah, yang menjadi yatim piatu karena ibu dan bapaknya serta keluarga besarnya tersapu tsunami, dan kini dia tinggal dengan sepupunya. Isi suratnya lebih mengharukan lagi karena ada kepedihan, harapan serta kerinduan akan kasih sayang. Didalam suratnya juga terdapat ikatan rambut, hadiah dari Nada untuk Maggie.



Pada forum The Asia Pasific American Heritage Event, 25 Mei 2005, SBY membacakan kedua surat tersebut pada pertengahan pidatonya.

Hi I hope your family and friends are okay. In church, I pray for you and your country. In school we are raising money for your country. We have loose change bucket and kids bring money in. Also we are making tsunami bracelets to raise money too. I have made you one. I hope you like it. It will continue praying for you and your country in church. Your friend, Maggie

My good friend, hello friend. My name is Nada Lutfiyyah. I was so happy and my heart was touched to receive the letter you sent us. My family�my dad, mom, older brother and younger brother�have disappeared, and now I live with my cousin. I am so glad you are paying attention to us here. I hope to receive your bracelet in the coming days because I want to wear it on my arm to remind me that I have a new friend.









Kemudian Presiden mengakhiri pidatonya tersebut, These two letters are extraordinary both on the words they conveyed and in the fact that two youngster from entirely different backgrounds made a connection. An American girl who prays at church, collect loose change and make bracelets for tsunami kids two oceans away. An Indonesian Muslim girl who lost all her family and wants to kill the pain and is eager just to be a kid again, just like Maggie. I think the world would be a better place if all of us start to have connections and conversations the way Maggie and Nada did.
