Default A Good Lecithin Supplement Can Help Lower Your Cholesterol

Many people are now recommending a lecithin supplement as a way to help lower your LDL cholesterol levels when they go over acceptable levels. This natural substance was first discovered in 1850 and is found in several foods including soybeans, egg yolks and whole grains. As a nutrition supplement it can be taken in several ways including a powder, a pill or a gel capsule.

Lecithin is a natural source of polyunsaturated fats and this is what makes a lecithin supplement an excellent way to help lower your cholesterol levels. Your body breaks the lecithin down into its component parts: phosphate, choline, fatty acids and glycerol. The body stores the lecithin in your vital organs and it makes up almost two thirds of the fat in your liver.

The lecithin supplement works as an emulsifier and helps your body to absorb fats. According to a study completed in 1999 the use of a soy based lecithin supplements showed that it helps the body to metabolize the cholesterol in your digestive system and reduce your LDL levels if used on a regular basis.

When the lecithin supplement is broken down into its key components the choline has been shown to help your liver to metabolize fats and then form vital lipoproteins. Choline is also thought to be the key element in lecithin that helps to reduce your levels of LDL and help improve your memory.
