Kantor Berita Reuters hari ini menulis para pengiklan telah lama mengakses data para pengguna Facebook, mulai dari profil, foto, sampai unggahan mereka. Tujuannya, ya, itu tadi untuk mengirim pesan komersial langsung ke akun pengguna Facebook. “Sampai April 2011, sedikitnya 100 ribu aplikasi yang memungkinkan kebocoran ini, "begitu bunyi pernyataan Symantec.

Symantec menjelaskan kebocoran ini berpotensi mengancam keamanan pengguna. Namun, uniknya pihak ketiga yang memanfaatkan data itu secara tidak sengaja mampu mengakses data lantaran kelemahan sistem keamanan.

Juru Bicara Facebook, Malorie Lucich, menyatakan pihaknya telah melakukan penyelidikan khusus. “Tapi, tidak ada bukti adanya kebocoran itu,” katanya.

Facebook kini memiliki lebih dari setengah miliar pengguna di dunia. Untuk urusan iklan daring, jejaring sosial ini menjadi salah satu saingan yang sangat diperhitungkan selain Google dan Yahoo.
