Produsen mobil Italia, Fiat, berencana membuka 20 gerai eksklusif di India pada akhir 2012. Gerai eksklusif pertama Fiat dibuka pada Rabu, 9 Mei 2012, pekan lalu di selatan kota Hyderabad.

Langkah ini diambil Fiat karena penjualan lewat distributor India Tata Motors hasilnya mengecewakan. Produsen mobil asing lainnya seperti Ford, Honda dan Nissan juga telah mengambil langkah lebih mengontrol operasional mereka sendiri.

Fiat yang menjual 20 ribu mobil setiap tahun di India belum mengungkapkan berapa besar investasi untuk mengembangkan jaringan penjualan di India. Fiat selama ini memasarkan model Linea, Palio and Punto di India, dan sedang memproses produk baru untuk dipasarkan di negara tersebut.
