Continuous Lighting Vs. Strobe

Already googled and didn't get any satisfactory results that answer THIS question. They just answered the difference between continuous lighting and strobe... which is fairly obvious... continuous lighting is... continuous. XD

bsp;

That being said...

bsp;

Light, is light, right?

bsp;

So is there any harm in using continuous lighting instead of strobes in a situation where you would ordinarily use strobes? WHEN is continuous lighting ideal?

bsp;

I know that one of the reasons continuous lighting isn't used in most situations is because of the heat generated... and I saw some people saying something about "safety" issues concerning shoots with kids... but aside from that... it's not any different than using strobes is it? Because light is light is light is light? As long as the light is all the same color?

bsp;

It's not like I could take a photo with continuous lighting and then take the same photo with strobes and you'd be able to tell the difference.... right?
