TEMPO Interaktif, Jakarta - Bos Apple Steve Jobs meluncurkan iPhone 4, perangkat Apple yang digambarkan sebagai ponsel tertipis di dunia, dan merupakan "benda paling tepat, paling indah" yang pernah dirancang Apple.

Jobs, CEO Apple, mengatakan kepada Konferensi Pengembang Sedunia di San Fransisco bahwa iPhone 4 adalah "lompatan terbesar ke depan" sejak iPhone awal.

IPhone 4 yang baru terbuat dari kaca dan stainless steel dengan fitur kamera lima-megapiksel menggunakan lampu kilat LED. Layar pada iPhone baru memiliki resolusi empat kali resolusi layar pada iPhone 3GS saat ini, dan iPhone 4 juga dapat merekam dan mengedit video definisi tinggi.

Steve Jobs menunjukkan fitur video-panggil FaceTime dari iPhone 4 dengan menghubungi Jony Ive, kepala desainer Apple.

iPhone 4 akan tersedia di Inggris pada tanggal 24 Juni dalam pilihan warna hitam atau putih. Apple belum mengungkapkan rincian harga dan upgrade.

"Bila Anda memegang ini di tangan Anda, itu sulit dipercaya," kata Jobs. Rincian dari iPhone 4 bocor beberapa minggu sebelum pengumuman resmi hari ini, setelah perangkat prototipe terjatuh di bar, dan jatuh ke tangan Gizmodo, sebuah blog gadget.

"Hentikan saya jika Anda pernah melihat ini sebelumnya," canda Jobs sambil memamerkan perangkat baru itu.

IPhone 4 menggunakan prosesor A4 Apple, yang menurut Jobs memberikan kecepatan dan kinerja superior, serta baterai yang lebih baik yang akan memungkinkan pengguna memakai lebih lama. Ada juga sebuah giroskop yang memungkinkan gerakan diukur lebih tepat, dan dapat menginspirasi generasi baru game iPhone, kata Jobs.

Apple juga memberikan rincian lebih lanjut tentang sistem operasi baru untuk iPhone, iPad dan iPod touch, yang dikenal sebagai iOS4.

Pembaruan perangkat lunak akan membawa multi-tasking untuk iPhone, yang memungkinkan pengguna untuk menjalankan beberapa aplikasi dan program secara bersamaan, dan juga akan memungkinkan pengguna untuk mengatur aplikasi mereka ke folder.
