Participant Invitation for the Conference:

Higher Education Reform in Indonesia: Existing Priorities and Future Directions

On behalf of the Australian Governments Overseas Aid Program (AusAID), Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI), and Strategic Asia, I would like to kindly invite you to the upcoming higher education conference entitled, Higher Education Reform in Indonesia: Existing Priorities and Future Directions. The two day event will be the culmination of a two year working group programme on Tertiary Education Policy between the Directorate General of Higher Education, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Government of Indonesia, AusAID and Strategic Asia.

This Conference will be held as follows:

Date : Tuesday, 15 May and Wednesday, 16 May 2012

Time : 8.30am-5.00pm

Venue : Garden Terrace

Four Seasons Hotel

Jl. H.R Rasuna Said

Jakarta 12920

The working group has been successfully addressing a series of challenges in the Indonesian higher education sector. Indonesia, as a middle income country is beginning to face a host of issues relating to improving the quality of higher education; increasing its gross enrolment ratio (GER); making higher education more equitable and improving research capacity, amongst others. Institutional issues also need to be addressed as Indonesian policy makers struggle to explore policy choices, track human capital development outcomes, conclude international institutional partnerships and prepare Indonesia for the technological challenges of the coming decades.

The conference - Higher Education Reform in Indonesia: Existing Priorities and Future Directions, will bring together a number of eminent stakeholders, practitioners and experts to discuss the challenges and the way forward to move Indonesia beyond its middle income status and transform it into a knowledge economy.

We very much hope that you will agree to play an active role in this conference on the key issues related to higher education in Indonesia.

This Seminar is free of charge and we would be grateful if you could inform your availability to participate in this seminar to Ari Wijanarko Adipratomo at [email protected] or telephone number +62 21 315 1797
