Manchester - Kabar mengejutkan datang dari Manchester United. Gelandang senior Paul Scholes menyetop masa pensiunnya dan akan kembali memperkuat "Setan Merah" sampai akhir musim ini.
Situs resmi MU merilis berita tersebut hari ini, Minggu (8/12/2012), beberapa jam sebelum kickoff pertandingan mereka melawan Manchester City di Etihad Stadium malam ini. Dia bahkan dipastikan masuk daftar pemain cadangan untuk laga tersebut.
"Fantastis sekali bahwa Paul membuat keputusan ini. Selalu sedih melihat pemain-pemain besar mengakhiri kariernya, terutama sekali ketika mereka melakukannya lebih dini," ujar Sir Alex Ferguson.
"Tapi dia tetap menjaga dirinya dalam kondisi yang sangat baik, dan saya selalu merasa bahwa dia masih bisa semusim lagi. Luar biasa sekali bisa mendapati dia comeback."
Scholes, 37, memutuskan gantung sepatu di akhir musim lalu. Ia tetap bersama klub sepanjang kariernya itu dengan menjadi staf pelatih tim muda. Selama itu ia sudah memperkuat MU di hampir 750 pertandingan.
"Sejak berhenti bermain, jelas sekali bahwa aku merindukan ini. Aku sangat senang bahwa manajer merasa aku masih bisa memberi kontribusi untuk tim ini, dan aku tidak sabar untuk memainkan peranku dengan mencoba membawakan lebih banyak kesuksesan buat tim yang besar ini," ungkap Scholes.
