iPhone 5 To Go Thinner And Lighter, Expect To Launch By September

http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/xlarge_iphone5-41.jpg

According to sources familiar with Apples supply chain, the company has ordered parts for a next-generation iPhone, alleged by this source to come in a thinner and lighter enclosure.

Among those parts, an 8-megapixel camera is expected, which most indicators indeed point to, according to previous reports. Apple is said to have fairly aggressive sales projections for the next iPhone, since it has allegedly ordered as many as 25 million units to be produced until the end of the year, according to the source:

Apples sales estimate of the new iPhone is quite aggressive. It told us to prepare to help the company meet its goal of 25 million units by the end of the year, [...] we were told to ship the components to assembler Hon Hai in August.

Hon Hai is the worlds biggest contract manufacturer, based on revenue figures, and has assembled several Apple products in the past. While most iPhones have been traditionally assembled by Foxconn, another contract manufacturer based in China,Apple has been diversifying its suppliers in order to improve efficiency. Hon Hai has previously expressed its frustration with assembling Apple products, claiming its hard to cram so many components together in order to create Apples legendary thin products, as voiced by Terry Gou, Hon Hais Chairman:

The touch-screen devices are so thin. Its really difficult to install so many components into the iPhones and iPads,

The contract manufacturer hopes to improve profitability by increasing volume, which might become a reality if Apple shifts more of its manufacturing power to Hon Hai. Meanwhile, spokespersons at both Hon Hai have refused to comment on recent rumors.

Apple, despite being the third largest US mobile phone brand as of April of this year, doesnt make a single iPhone. Instead, it hires outside companies, most of them based in the Far East, to assemble the products using Apples brand. Currently, most modern hardware makers dont manufacture most of their hardware, allowing them to keep manufacturing costs as low as they can be.

Most rumors have suggested that the next-generation iPhone will look identical to the iPhone 4 and instead focus on the internal hardware, with spec boosts such as a dual-A5 processor expected. Yet, once in a while, rumors of a redesign pop up, such as this one.

Well have to wait until September, the month the next iPhone is expected to be unveiled.

Fan-created concepts have always shun a light on what an upcoming product might look like, and this one isnt an exception. Brazilian Graphics Design student Schasiepen Guilherme Martins has created a concept of what the next iPhone should look like, based on the various reports that have come out of the rumor mill over the last few months.

http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/iPhone-5-China-Mobile1.jpg

As you can tell from the pictures below, the concept alludes to many of the rumored enhancements mentioned over the last few months. The design looks significantly thinner than the current iPhone, just like recent rumors have pointed to, and the screen is 4-inches-large, without visibly increasing the size of the device from what we could tell from the pictures. Theres also an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video shooting capabilities, as most reports have pointed to, and an HD camera on the front. In order to address low reception complaints, Martins also predicts a new antenna placement in order to stop calls from dropping unexpectedly, even when the phone isnt held properly (http://www.redmondpie.com/steve-jobs-responds-to-iphone-4-reception-issues-hold-it-differently/).

http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/07-iphone5conceito06.jpg

http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/07-iphone5conceito05.jpg

Reports of a larger screen have started surfacing ever since then a Chinese website claimed to have obtained concepts (http://www.redmondpie.com/iphone-5-images-leaked/) of the next-generation iPhone. Although bigger, the screen isnt expected to increase the devices size. Instead, it will eliminate the bezel around it. A larger screen wont only provide more real-estate for the Home Screen and other apps, but it will also make watching video on the device a lot more pleasant.
These concepts seem to bridge reports that the next iPhone wont look any different from the current one with those that claim that there will be a complete case redesign. In fact, a design like this could exactly be what Apple is thinking of going for: not a radical new design, but some changes to the current one in order to remain competitive in the smartphone market.
The next iPhone, rumored to be named either iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S, is expected to be introduced by Apple in September and released soon after. The new device is expected to include iOS 5, currently in beta stage and expected to come out in its final form later this year, as well as several hardware upgrades, mainly a dual-A5 processor and an 8-megapixel camera.

Those whove spent some time on the Android platform are probably aware of Swype, a tweak that lets users type on their virtual keyboards without ever lifting their fingers, by simply quickly swiping their finger across the keyboard over any letter in order to form a word, and only then releasing it. Fans of this tool should now be happy to know that Swype has now been unofficially ported to iOS.

http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Swype_Logo_Black.png

The creators of the official Swype for Android have described the tweak as serious patented time-saver:
With one continuous finger or stylus motion across the screen keyboard, the patented technology enables users to input words faster and easier than other data input methodsat over 40 words per minute.

http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Swype-for-iPhone.jpg

Swype for iOS, although not official at this point, works similarly to the official version. After installing the tweak and restarting the device, users will immediately be able to type using this method. This tweak is still in beta form, therefore its expected to have its problems: for example, auto-correct often kicks in, although its not displayed, and will inadvertently change a word. That happens several times. If youd like to type normally, you still can, even with Swype installed, although youll likely rather use the new method since it does a great deal to speed up your writing.
In order to install this, all youll need is a jailbroken iPod touch, iPhone or iPad, although we expect that this typing method will feel a lot more natural on smaller devices, not on large screens. In order to get it up and running, youll need to add the following repository to Cydia: wynd.x10.mx/repo

It should be fairly obvious by now that a next-generation iPhone should be coming out in 2 months; whats unclear is what the new device will feature. According to a new picture that leaked onto the Internet on Sunday, the next iPhone will feature two cameras on the back for 3D video shooting. Is this a great revelation or just the result of half an hour worth of work on Photoshop? Read on.

This picture, which according to its embedded metadata was taken in Shenzhen, Guangdong China, depicts a device that looks incredibly similar to the current iPhone, except for a major difference: the back. Instead of just one camera, this image depicts two, suggesting that the next iPhone will support the capturing of 3D video, at least according to this shot. We also clearly see "iPhone 5" printed on the back, although the "5" is in a different font, which can be seen as either genius or incredibly suspicious.

http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/1528580wppsaxpjvvxv0jp.jpg

If we dig in a little deeper, we realize that this only gets shadier from this point on, as evidenced by the front picture (see below). Lets not focus on the phone itself, but look at the background: theres what appears to be an iPhone 4 box on the top right corner, which suggests that the picture looks like it was taken at a store of some kind. While its possible that such store has received an early shipment, thats not a common practice for Apple, which only delivers its products to retailers at the very last minute before their official announcement. More likely, a bored store clerk could have just taken a picture of a brand-new iPhone 4 and spent 30 minutes of his time editing it in Photoshop.

http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/1518167uppt3tqu0tqpq79.jpg

You might have guessed our verdict already: these pictures are almost definitely fake. If Apple were indeed planning to announce an 3D iPhone in the next few months, wed have likely heard more reports pointing to that at this point. While the company has indeed done some remarkable research (http://www.redmondpie.com/new-apple-patent-suggests-3d-gestures-for-easy-data-sharing-between-iphone-ipad-ipod-touch/) on 3D technologies, a 3D-capable iPhone is probably still way out in the future.
The consensus is that the next iPhone, which is expected to be announced at Apples annual music event in September, will feature small design changes, possibly a large screen, an 8-megapixel camera and a dual-A5 processor inside.

Youll Need:

An iPod touch, iPhone or iPad running iOS 4 (http://www.redmondpie.com/heres-how-to-upload-pictures-from-iphone-to-google-plus/#).0 or newer.
A Google+ account (obviously).
Piconhand (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/piconhand-picasa-web-albums/id377598190?mt=8), a free Picasa client for iOS.

The process of uploading picture onto Google+ is easier than you might think and requires no workarounds, due to how tightly integrated the Picasa service is with Google+, as you can see below.
Step 1: Assuming you have already downloaded Piconhand, head to iOS Settings > Location Services, look for "Piconhand" and make sure location services are allows for that app.

Step 2: Launch Picohand and log in with your Google account. You should now see your albums: create a new one and name it anything youd like, or after the circle youd like it to be accessible to.
Step 3: On the bottom bar, select "Upload". You should now see a list of all the pictures stored on your phone as well as the option to take one now, if youre so inclined. Select the pictures you want to upload, hit the "Upload" button and wait.

http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/iPhone-Screenshot-5.jpg

Step 4: All the pictures you uploaded should now be visible on your Google+ library. If you wish, you can now define which groups youd like them to be accessible to.
Like we mentioned above, an iOS version of Google+ is expected to come out real soon, as confirmed (http://www.redmondpie.com/google-app-for-iphone-ipad-and-ipod-touch-on-its-way-to-app-store/) last week by one of Googles engineers, therefore you can rest assured that this is a temporary method.

iPhone 5 Akan Lebih Tipis dan Ringan Ketimbang iPhone 4

http://www.tabloidpulsa.co.id/images/stories/Juni2011/iphone_5_rumor.jpg

While rumors are going crazy on the network on the characteristics of the next iPhone , starting from the model or 5 4S and aesthetic innovations that we hope to find on a future version, the most imaginative test themselves in the testing and implementation of new concepts. Let's see what ispazio's user designed by Joel Luke Warrior.
http://images.pandaapp.com/iphone/2011/07/11/iph5.jpg

The idea of Luke is quite faithful to the appearance of the iPhone, but changes some details that make it much more appealing:

*Retina Display 4 "
*It reduced the thickness of the phone
*Home button is no longer physical but soft-touch, backlit
*The front camera placed in a central position
*Camera moved back on the right side of the phone, by optimizing the use of the handle horizontal
*Moved back under the camera flash

Continuing to take the mobile phone industry by storm, Apple has found itself sitting pretty at the top of a list of smartphone OEMs. This particular list shows Apple is currently the top dog when it comes to smartphone market share for the three months ending May 2011.

Apple has always been a fairly malware-safe world, aside from an occasional threat that pops up every so often. While malware incidence has indeed been low (http://www.redmondpie.com/apple-admits-macs-get-malware-too-promises-a-fix-for-macdefender-threat/) on both Mac and iOS, Mac OS X anti-malware maker Intego, has developed a new malware scanner for iOS devices.

VirusBarrier, as this new tool is called, will scan places where malware is the likeliest to be stored at, such as the users Dropbox folder, as well as Mail attachments and other locations within iOS that are directly exposed to users. This tool is an on-demand scanner, meaning that it doesnt run in the background due to the nature of iOS multi-tasking (or lack thereof), therefore users will have to manually scan files from the app itself or by pressing and holding the link to any file and selecting "Open in VirusBarrier".

http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/iPhone-Screenshot-12.jpg

You may now be wondering about the need for an anti-malware application on an iOS device, since after all no software that hasnt been reviewed by Apple can run on the system (unless youve jailbroken it, of course). It turns out that the main goal of this app is to stop infected files from ending up on more vulnerable systems, as explained by the company in a press release:While there is no known malware for iOS, files can flow through these devices into computers at home and at work by e-mail, or via remote locations such as MobileMe or Dropbox. Mac and Windows viruses, malware and worms will take any path they can to get into home and work computers, and can easily be passed on to friends and co-workers directly from an iOS device, even though they do not affect iOS devices.
VirusBarrier is, of course, equipped to detect Windows, Mac and Unix viruses, therefore expect its virus definitions to be updated quite often. VirusBarrier can be downloaded from the iOS App Store (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/virusbarrier/id436111378?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4#) for $2.99, which will grant you free detection updates for a year. From that point, youll have to purchase a license again for an additional $1.99 every year.

http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/VirusBarrier-for-iPad.jpg

Whether this app is worth the investment is up to you. Common sense is usually enough to keep malware out most of the time, but theres nothing wrong with wanting a second layer of protection.

Over a year since the launch of the its latest iPhone offering, Apple has finally acquired domain name iPhone4.com, just days after purchasing WhiteiPhone.com for an undisclosed amount. Both domain names direct to the iPhone 4 product page which interestingly, according to a Retrevo study, one in three people mistake an iPhone 4 for a 4G capable (http://www.redmondpie.com/one-third-of-iphone-4-users-mistakenly-think-they-have-a-4g-capable-smartphone/) phone.

http://www.redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/White-iPhone-4.jpg

According to a report over at Fusible (http://fusible.com/2011/07/apple-acquires-leaked-iphone4-com-domain-name-still-missing-others/), The Whois record for iPhone4.com changed two days ago from Whois Privacy Services to Apple Inc:

The Cupertino company has a habit of being somewhat unpredictable when it comes to (re)gaining valuable domains for some of its products. Its certainly interesting that Apple has chosen to secure the domain of a product which is nearing the end of its reign as Apples flagship smartphone. Registrant records reveal that it doesnt in fact own iPhone5.com, iPhone6.com, iPhone7.com, iPhone8.com etc. Even more intriguingly, the company hasnt (yet) decided to acquire iPad.com, despite the tablet being over a year old. In fact, the company doesnt own a single iPad-related domain. Currently, the owner of iPad.com enjoys a healthy influx of traffic, with in excess of 100,000 visitors in just a short period of time. iBooks was released by Apple as a supplementary app for the iPad, yet Apple also doesnt own iBook.com, iBooks.com or iBookstore.com or anything of the like.
It would seem like a given that a company of Apples stature would secure such domains as quickly as possible. There doesnt appear to be a correlation between which domains it chooses to purchase, and which it seemingly ignores. It paid reportedly over $1m for iPhone.com from a businessman back in 2007, and owns iPod.com, iMac.com, iWork.com, iTunes.com etc. but interestingly enough, not MacBook.com.
Squatting on future Apple domains certainly looks like a good bit of business, and with Apples inability to secure domains quickly enough, there could be many future opportunities for people with a little initiative to make themselves instant millionaires courtesy of Jobs & Co.
