Brand: CRESCENDO
Category: Speaker System
Series: 3 Way Speaker System
English:
Opus 8.9A is the next step in Crescendo 3 way speaker with better tweeter and midbass-driver to reproduce enhanced clarity throughout the spectrum. The driver configuration is like Opus 5 made into 3 way speaker system.
Opus 8.9A consists of T1R (tweeter), MB-3 (midrange-driver), MG-6 (midbass-driver), and X8.9 (passive crossover), all in 1 pair.
TWEETER:
The T1R tweeter is now available in the 5th version and considered mature enough to provide the best sound at its price range. The soft fabric cone is carefully selected and coated to produce natural sounding highs with good phase characteristic for smooth blending with the midrange/midbass-driver. The housing is built from our custom extruded aluminum that we consider the best for sound. The convex ring shape, which is unique and original, is not only to enhance the appearance but to regulate the diffraction and phase. The finishing is shiny polish and the 'Crescendo' logo is printed in color. It is equipped with our specially designed two curvy bars grill for protection while maintaining the sound disturbance at minimum. It is complimented with 1 meter of Harmonic Harmony 'Interlude' speaker cable for fine tuning of sound. The resonance frequency is 1,500 Hz and the frequency response is 1,500 Hz up to 20 kHz in 3dB scale. Although the specification is the same as T1RP, the sound reproduction is different in any way. T1R has better attack, sharper, clearer, warmer, and more focus.
MIDRANGE:
The MB-3 is a unique 3 inches midrange-driver that is optimized for very small box (0.5 to 1 liter) to make it flexible to be installed in almost any car without hassle. The choice for 3 inches midrange-driver comes from the idea that 3 way speaker systems is becoming more and more popular but the current 4 inches midrange-driver in the market is somehow difficult to install in certain cars. MB-3 is using polypropylene cone that we consider as a perfect balance between sound, appearance, and durability. The chassis is our own designed die-cast basket with top and bottom cut to reduce the distance to the tweeter for less phase errors. The terminal is gold plated for best connection and it is equipped with 2 curvy bars grill for protection. MB-3 comes in perfect tonal balance because Crescendo engineers have overcome the tendency of 3 inches full-range midrange-driver to enhance the upper and lower part of the midrange and lacking the middle part.
MIDBASS:
The new MG-6 midbass-driver is an improvement from the previous version with better midrange quality and more kick in the midbass. MG-6 shares the same ‘die cast’ chassis as MS-6 so the outer diameter is also 7 inches to take advantage of deeper midbass and easier to blend with subwoofer. Don't worry about its flexibility because the magnet size is small and we have studied thoroughly to verify that MG-6 can be installed in almost any car without hassle. MG-6 is using polypropylene cone that we consider as a perfect balance between sound, appearance, and durability. The terminal is gold plated for best connection. The resonance frequency is 46 Hz and the frequency response is 46 Hz up to 7 kHz in 3dB scale. With wider frequency response, MG-6 is considered better than MS-6 in reproducing more natural vocal and tighter midbass.
PASSIVE CROSSOVER:
The X8.9 passive crossover separates MB-3 and T1R at 3.5 kHz. It provides 3 positions switch to adjust tweeter level and Q factor at the same time, in order to achieve smooth blending between both drivers. The passive crossover component can be considered high grade at this price range. The capacitor for high pass is using Jantzen Z-Standard Cap from Denmark and the resistor for tweeter is specially ordered from USA.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Crescendo Opus 8.9X, Opus 8,9A, Opus 8.9B, and Opus 9.9 does not provide crossover to separate MB-6 and MB-3 because it is more convenient and more efficient to use active crossover at this point. Recommended crossover point is 250 – 315 Hz with 24 dB/octave slopes. Such active crossover can be found in head units such as Alpine CDA 9887 (with some adjustment) and Eclipse CD 7100 / CD 7200 or separate digital processors such as DBX Driverack 260, Alpine PXA H-701, Alpine PXI-H990, Pioneer DEQ-P90 and Audio Control DQXS.
