Launched by the design house of Gale Hayman in 1991 BEVERLY HILLS PERFUME is a scent of an exquisite aldehydic oriental jasmin gardenia spicy ambery vetiver animalic powdery fragrance.

Whoa! Civet! The first thing coming at me is civet, quite a surprise… and it’s not just a mild civet – it’s civet on steroids… errr… aldehydes. Of course the civet note dominates all the other notes of the fragrance. I miss out on the citrus opening and have to struggle to smell the spices and florals of the middle: Eventually the middle notes do show up – a very nice floral bouquet where I can’t separate out the individual floral notes. Up until now, I would not have believed that Beverly Hills is an Oriental. It finally shows its half-Oriental character in the base. The base is loaded down with woods and sweets (and, staying strong, the civet) – more woods than sweet. Its strong wooded character is so grounded that it is difficult to separate out the individual notes that compose it.

The marketing claim for this fragrance was that it had been compounded with over 200 natural essences. After smelling and analyzing its, I could see the claim as possibly true, but I do think with all those notes, they didn’t need so much civet. I would like to have been impressed by this fragrance… I enjoy the old powerhouses whether women’s or men’s… but I’m afraid this doesn’t do much for me.

This perfume was introduced in 2006. It won a best-perfume award in 2007 by Marie Claire. There are two kinds of bottle; one was designed especially as an extrait de parfum 60ml bottle and the other as Eau de Toilette 50ml and 100ml bottle. The extrait de parfum bottle was inspired by by the Ren� Lalique “Cactus” powder bowl of 1928, which is the real symbol of femininity. The flacon is handmade, made of opal with a beautiful stopper adorned by black dots.Every single bottle is signed and has its own unique number. This chypre-floral compositon was designed by Nathalie Lorson, Firmenich. The notes are voluptuous, intoxicating, feminine and very seductive. Bulgarin rose shines with its sweet and spicy nuances. At its heart, the note of sensual and powdery iris caressed by bourbon pepper which offers the wave of some modern colouring seguing into patchouli and musks. Agent Provocateur is the signature fragrance of the house. Its sharp very intensive animalistic and very provocative juice has become a modern classic combining Indian saffron, coriander from Russia, Egyptian Jasmine and Vetivert from Haiti among other exotic elements.

The fragrance is in a wonderfully tactile precious porcelain bottle with the shape of an egg (or a bomb?). It is so rosy and innocent, contrasting with its wild and shameless erotic scent.

The composition starts strong and sharp with a spicy note of saffron. Warm floral notes of magnolia, Indian jasmine and gardenia blend together with strong woodsy-chypre scent. There is very animalistic amber and musk notes in the base.
The perfume was created 2000 by Christian Provenzano.

A shadowy, grey Ho Hang sadly, but really sadly discontinued. I treasure a mini 30 ml that in my wardrobe stands proudly on the side of Black Tourmaline, Homage and Heritage. Look at my review about the classic survived Ho Hang, there are similarities between the two fragrances, the grey, shadowy feel here is determined by the addition of notes as thyme, cypress, leather, rose, cardamom and by an heavy musky presence. Divine in the the spring time under the sunsets. Fragrances! What a wonderful world.

Balenciaga Ho Hang Club was released at a time when Alpha-male beings didn’t like to wear talc. they used to wear Ho Hang Club like theres no tomorrow and experience the kind of orgasm no fragrance could ever give. A straight ahead, no non-sense, Patchouli/Incense based scent (white smoke) with a soft accord of florals combined with an powdery extract of spices and woody notes. the main star of this scent is Patchouli (it feels damp and earthy). The base is earthy, mossy green with hints of incense and mild touch of leather acting as a comforting anchor retaining it's powdery accords with amazing consistency.

You're right on the money Kiselina. I also respectfully submit that Life Essence is a uinsex frag. Everything about this fragrance is just right, from the bottle, to its cap, to the juice itself. Great woody base notes perfect for the office and great for weekends. This is a creative piece that has no equal

How I miss Captain... It is no longer available in Montr�al where I live. I wore it in the late 70's and I still can remember how wearing it made me feel. It was fresh and warm at the same time. I had so many compliments for it. I haven't smelled it since. I hope they did not change it's composition like so many perfume houses have done to their classics in the past decade

Be sure to try the dark opaque bottle like the one shown at the top of this listing. This one has better longevity than the later clear bottles, apparently.

Captain is a mild, slightly spicy and soapy fougere-esque scent. It reminds me a little of Lacoste Original. LO has better projection and longevity. Vermeil has even more power using some of the same ingredients.

The opening of Captain is quite subdued and mellow even though the lavender is a little on the sharp side at first. This refined and elegant lavender plays an important part in the fragrance. It is present in the beginning accord where it combines with greens and florals, and stays throughout the entire run of the scent. Captain really doesn’t change much except that it continues to grow smoother and more mellow. The fragrance’s lightness and freshness and the graceful use of lavender make Captian Molineau delightful. It stays close to the skin and is quite short lived. I am reminded of a very subtle Pour Un Homme—and I decidedly prefer the Captain: It is an enjoyable, light, fresh scent, and, being so historic and inexpensive, it belongs in a collector’s wardrobe.

I got this for a great deal at a counter that featured discontinued products, so I can't complain about the meager sillage. On me the longevity lasts several hours of close-to-the-vest projection.

A total classic. And totally timeless. Different from any other fragrance on the market, yet subdued and comforting: the kind of scent that brings a smile to the wearer and her ambiance. Not overtly sexy, but sensual, and one of those perfumes that one can remember just by thinking about it. Good for all ages, but works best with the mature and sophisticated. Might work for some men, but use caution.

This timeless perfume smells good on every body I think, it has no notes that could possibly be called offensive, I wear it and my mother wore it when I was young and living in a hot mediterranean country it truly is a cooling summer smell it is supremely refreshing, but don't be fooled, it is also mysterious, and extremely sexy, men seem to love it and it suits a lot of different types of women or men for that matter a bit like Eau de Cartier in unisexness.
I own vintage and new ....the vintage has far more depth and character as the new uses synthetic ingredients and you can tell. The smell dose not linger on me unless I layer with the body wash and body moisturizer, although I can get more millage from my vintage bottle, a must for anyone starting a fragrance collection

A fougere in the same family as Paco Rabanne and Captain by Molyneux. Bogart opens with a fresher, brighter citrus note than Paco, and as it progresses, the middle and base notes emerge more smoothly. It doesn't have the complexity of Paco, but the drydown is a very pleasing leathery-spicy mixture with some greens, and it manages to be smooth and rich without being overly sweet. I seem to choose this one more for daytimes than for evenings, and it always puts me in a positive frame of mind


Seventies Era powerhouse chypre. Very green and herbal, but also leathery and tough -- imagine Equipage without its polite veneer and rounded corners. A definite classic, yes, but one which would likely not sell well today -- not at all. This is a very masculine, very French affair whose composition would today be a bit of a dinosaur. (And more's the pity.)

What intrigues me about this wonderful scent is that it effortlessly brings together the solid masculinity of sweet spice and leather with a suave herbal freshness. Decidedly pre-80s - and the better for it - this exudes so much more sophistication than many of the Gordon Gekko-era frag dreadnoughts. As stated previously, utterly classic, but in no way outdated and deserving of much greater attention than it seems to receive these days. Certainly a must for anyone with a deeper interest in fragrances.

Now this is what a leather fragrance should smell like! A true classic from the old school, Worth Pour Homme is considered by most people to be a fougere, and when you first spray this on, it has a sharp, woody opening accord of lavender and citrus that is reminiscent of old-fashioned fougeres like Trumper�s Wild Fern (which I�ve heard is reminiscent of the venerable Fougere Royale). Within a half hour, however, those top notes fade to reveal a very warm, smooth, rich but discreet leather accord. This is not the nasty, gasoline-and-shoe polish accord that passes for leather in Knize Ten. To me, it is this leather accord that dominates and defines Worth PH, and in turn Worth PH exemplifies what I consider to be a leathery perfume. The leather really is the heart of this fragrance, and it does fade as the drydown emerges, but you can still sense it even in the drydown, which is very musky and virile.

I have the version with the clear bottle and blue box, which I believe is the reformulated version. I've heard the orignal formulation was a bit of a powerhouse, but the version I have is anything but. It has very good longevity (8-10 hours), but its sillage is that of a "skin scent". I need to really spray this on hard (oh, about 20 sprays) to be able to even smell it on myself, but then again I believe most fougeres are meant to be applied liberally.

Worth PH is not an extroverted, macho scent, but rather a very masculine, old-school but timeless fragrance for a refined, confident gentleman. It is extremely discreet and extremely good. Big thumbs up.

My rating: 8.5/10

Worth smells like a brighter and sweeter Paco Rabanne, which is saying a lot. I realize that I am comparing the fragrances in their new versions, but if I had to choose between the two, it would be PR. I suspect, from other comments, that the original Worth was the superior juice. Worth is a robust and heady tonic, so a couple of sprays will do, and it lasts forever.

A slightly austere, but deeply satisfying example of masculine cleanliness.The opening is astringent, strident and delightfully crisp. The presence of lavender and rosemary lend a distinct edge to this stage, a necessarily bold statement that sets the tone for the whole experience. It softens gradually during its lifespan and after a couple of hours this is something to cherish. In its design, this fragrance is a classic fougere, but it's real quality lies in the simplicity of the execution. There are powdery characteristics on my skin akin to Paco Rabanne and Cerutti 1881, but in my view neither of these two have quite the finish and understated class of Worth Pour Homme. The sillage is on the exroverted side of contained, and the longevity is substantial, the morning application lasting some eight hours on a cool Spring day

The leather in this is so readily noticeable, I almost didn't think this had anything else in it. Seems to not last too, too long at least 4 hours on me. Dries down into the cedarwood and musk quite nicely. I honestly think that if you can't find Helmut Lang's Cuiron, get this. It's not as strong but it's a very good fresh leather alternative. Good

This frag may not be groundbreaking in anyway, but I like its everyday-quality -- fun, clean, easy-to-wear and I get whiffs of it every now and then when I wear it and I just get a smile out of it. A fun melon-cucumber concoction that'll turn off the serious BNer, but hey, I'm not one of them...yet A scent I wear when I want to smell like a good boy hehe.

This perfume gives me a feeling of comfort. It is warm and gentle at the same time. Spicy and sweet. It's very masculine and say that resembles Dior's Fahrenheit, perhaps by notes of leather. It was very well composed, and is proof that a wrong "nose" and low quality ingredients could create a disaster. Bravo Mr. Morillas!

Uomo, which its smell supports its name perfectly, is a highly masculine and perfectly young fragrance. It evokes all youth ambitious desires; like driving a Ferrari at least for once!
It opens with a equally balanced of spicy, citric and woody notes. Not so unique and extraordinary but satisfies very well!
It's waxy in the opening, sweet but not sugary and so chic and masculine.
It's not sexy but attractive and not bothersome. You may have not get any compliment but be sure you put yourself in other's hearth without any connection! It bring all safe and trustworthy feeling which reminds a well-hearted young man, an young manager!

Opens a little sweet and leathery. Dries down very woodsy and earthy. Lasts as long as an 8 hour work day under my shirt. Much better than the other Ferrari scents I've tried so far.

After The Iceberg Fragrance for women from 2008, its masculine companion, The Iceberg Fragrance for Men appeared on the market in 2009.

It is constructed as an aromatic fragrance with bergamot, lavender and cardamom in top notes. Its heart is sensual and constructed of delicate rose, iris, ambrette and cedar. Base notes carry the same aromas as the version for men - warm and sensual vanilla. Sage is in charge of contrasts, as well as ambroxan which serves as signature of self-confident Iceberg man.

Its flacon is created like the edition from previous year, but coloured in grey-silver nuances. The perfume arrived on the market in March 2009. Perfumer is Antoine Maisondieu iz Givaudan.
