VideoLAN Client or usually called VLC media player is an application presents itself as an all-in-one instrument for both video streaming and playback. VLC was intended right from the beginning as a greatly portable and universal multimedia player for different audio and video formats such as MPEG-1-2-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, DVDs, VCDs (the list is very long) and compatible with different streaming protocols.
It is provided as a server and as a client to stream and receive network streams. The streaming server can handle all the types that it has the capacity to read.
